1987, Kirkuk, Iraq
When I was born my father was a manager in the hospital of Kirkuk. Saddam’s regime displaced us, and sent us to Diyala, for the reason that we were Kurdish. We came back to Kurdistan two years later, but in 1991 we were again forced to leave, this time into Iran where we have been refugees for about 6 months.
Between 1994 and 2003 I remember that my uncle used to send us pictures from Holland. I started then to be interested in photography, and I also would have liked to take pictures and sending them to him, but I did not have a camera. I asked him to send me a camera and from that time I became a photographer.
After finishing journalism at University in Sulaimaniyah I started working as a photojournalist in 2007.
